Pirate Dress Up Day

Showing PRIDE

Last term we had the health nurse visit room 4. She talked about the importance of showing PRIDE in ourselves . This means wearing the correct school uniform in a tidy manner. If for some reason your child is unable to wear the correct uniform please send a note. This note is taken to the school office where a uniform pass will be issued. Some of us like to get muddy during playtimes. If you child likes to play rough and tumble games at lunchtime please send along some old clothes for them to change into. 

Volcano in the Sandpit

We made a volcano in the sandpit. We wanted to see what happens to the land when there is a volcano.

The Adventures of Peggy and Elephant

Peggy and Elephant were surfing until a handle fell down and hit Peggy on the shoulder. Peggy grabbed it. He went up, up, up until he crawled up. Then the handle went back down and hit Elephant on the shoulder. Elephant grabbed it. He up, up, up until he crawled up. Later they got off the plane. Then they got into a limo. An hour later they got off the limo at the beach. They dug and dug. They found a marrow it was 20 feet tall and 10 classrooms long. They were so happy.

The Adventures of Peggy and Elephant

Once upon a time there was one dog named Kite and two pigs named Peggy and Elephant. One day they found a limo it had automatic drive. Peggy, elephant and Kite rode it. They came to a traffic jam they started to fly. They parachuted down with surfboards in case they landed in the sea. They were all right. They surfed to a rocket. They jumped in and blasted off into space. It took them one day to get to get into space. They went into the sun. It was fill of dog biscuits and marrows.

Life Education Bus

Life Education Bus… is coming to DPS.   The bus will be here in Weeks 5 and 6 this 

term. Each child attends 2 lessons and the focus is 'Food and Nutrition'. There is a small cost of $4 per child (this works out to be only $2 per lesson!) and if you start preparing now, it's only $1 a week per child to save - what a bargain! Please send payment in a named envelope to your child's teacher by Friday 14th May.

Uniform

 If for some reason your child is unable to come to school in the correct uniform they will need a note with a reason which is to be taken to the school office before school for a uniform pass to be issued. Children can change at lunchtimes and during P.E in to their sports uniform, this is a good idea if your child likes a bit of rough and tumble.

Student Teacher

Room 4 has a student teacher who will be working with us for the next 7 weeks. We are really excited to have Miss Adams in our classroom.

Learning conferences

We had our learning conferences last week. Here is Liam sharing his learning with his mum. We share where we are at with our learning and our next steps.

The Twits

Room 4 have just finished reading ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl. Here are our summaries of the story.

 

The twits are disgusting people. They play nasty tricks on each other. Mister and Misses twit hate children. They eat bird pie with glue.

There are people named the twits. They are mean. Mr and Mrs twit are ugly.

There was a family called the twits. They were cruel to monkeys and heaps of animals. They ate bird pie and are the ugliest people you have ever seen. They are mean to each other.

The twits are very hairy. They are smelly. But they are funny and very scary.

-Zane

 

The twits are dreadful. Mr twit has a long beard just like Santa. The twits smell like rotten egg. Mrs twit is yuck she pulls her glass eye out.

Week 5

Wow it is week 5 already.

This week we will be working on our learning conferences so they are ready for week 6. We will be having party games for golden time. Please feel free to come along to our swimming lesson on Thursday at 1.30pm. The room 4 students will be sharing what they have learnt in the swimming season.

Georgia has been showing leadership in room 4. She was elected as our class rep for enviro and is always willing to help out. She is caring towards others and a great role model.

School Picnic

The Douglas Park School Picnic is on this Thursday.

Bring along a picnic,  rug and togs for an evening of family fun.

There will be cold drinks, sausages, nachos and iceblocks for sale.

George's STAR

This week George our wonderful teacher aide selected Zara for her STAR of the week. Zara has been making great choices in class and shows PRIDE.

Golden Time

Our Golden Time for week 4 is 'Crazy Hairstyles'. I'm sure all the children will really enjoy this. Look out for some photos next week.

Newsletter Notes

Brainfood is a great way to give kids some extra fuel to get through the morning. Brainfood could be any type of fruit or vegetable cut in to small pieces, nuts or dried fruit. We have 5 minutes at brainfood time so it is best to provide something children can eat in this time.

There is a box in the classroom for water bottles, children are allowed to drink to drink water during learning time. Please make sure you name their water bottle.

Library 

Our class library day is Monday. Please return library books on a Friday. 

Book Bag

If your child doesn’t have a book bag they can be purchased from the school office for $4.

Golden Time

Do you have any talents that you would like to share with room 4 for ‘Golden Time’?

Could be anything from baking, art ,sports or crafts.
