Bailey comes to visit

We were lucky enough to have Bailey come to visit when Mrs Seta was in Rm 4 one day. She is very cute and we hope she can come into Rm 4 again!

Hockey In Schools...

On a sunny Friday morning we headed out to the netball court to learn some hockey skills with Sharyn. Check out these photos - Black Sticks move over!

Our Expositions...

In Room 4 we have been learning to write expositions or more commonly known as persuasive arguments. Mrs Williams hooked us in by telling us that we had to write about something that we would like changed or new at DPS. A good exposition includes global statements, modal verbs, arguments to back ourselves and a strong conclusion.

Arts Suite And Specialist Teachers

Teachers would teach more art.
Some schools have an arts suite, but DPS doesn’t.
An arts suite would have all the supplies on hand and ready to use.

I strongly believe that DPS should get an arts suite and specialist teachers because we can all learn something new and participate in something different.

There are 3 main reasons why... DPS should get an arts suite and specialist teachers because...

Firstly an arts suite and specialist teachers should be provided at DPS because we can learn it before intermediate.

Secondly an arts suite and specialist teachers should be provided at DPS because kids would be into art more.

Finally an arts suite and specialist teachers should be provided at DPS because it wouldn’t such a hassle to bring all the stuff back and forward.

I believe that DPS should get an arts suite and specialist because it would e a fun subject to learn and we could be prepared before intermediate. Every child participating will learn something new.

HEATED SWIMMING POOL

A heated swimming pool encourages more people to learn how to swim.

2.This is important because New Zealand is an island surrounded by water and it would be a good idea to learn how to swim.

3.Plus a heated swimming pool can be used for a longer period of time instead of 6 weeks a year

I strongly believe that Douglas Park should have a heated swimming pool.

There are 3 main reasons why Douglas Park should have a heated swimming pool

The pool can be WAY too cold if not heated and it can give us brain freeze

2. The school could fundraise for it so we could make the most out of our school pool

3.Kids swimming skills would increase because it would be warm and they wouldn’t make excuses about not wanting to get in

I strongly believe that Douglas park should have a heated swimming pool because statistics show that Kiwi kids are not all confident around water so we could help out with that by having a swimming pool that we can use lots over the year.

EXPOSITION
For a deck behind the library.
Introduction
A library is a good place to read.
2.You can learn new things from books in a library
3.A library helps helps you learn

I believe that we should have a deck behind the library built
because that area could be used for learning.

We should have a deck behind the library
because

Firstly a deck behind the library must be built at DPS because if it is warm or cold you have a place to be.

Secondly a deck behind the library must be built at DPS because it will make more room in the library

Finally we would be making good use of space at DPS. Lots of us love to read and this might encourage more kids to read in in their spare time.

I strongly believe that DPS should build a deck around the library because it is very important that we promote reading and make it fun.

Balloon Visit

Today we were lucky enough to have a visit from a hot air balloon crew. We also got to witness inside and outside of the basket an a little glimpse of the balloon. It was so awesome!!! At the end they asked Rm 4 to help lift the basket onto the trailer - it was pretty heavy!
